The Reggio Emilia cathedral, is built in Romanesque style. It was subject of numerous reconstructions andalterations over the centuries . The current facade is unfinished, with a cover designed by Prospero sixteenth Sogari Clemntsaid at the first level. The bottom consist of pilastersframed niches with statues of four saints protectors of the City. The top of the faceade , Romanesque style, is worked for the restoration Malaguzzi. In the main portal of the facade: In the main portal of the facade the great sixteenth-century gilt bronze statue of the Madonna and jesus Child and purchasers.
The dome was dseigned by abbot Messori, a local architect to designe the dome of the curch of St. Peter and Prospero. The interior was renovated from the year 1599 by the sienese architect Cosimo Pugliani.
